As many as 30,000 people die as a result of medical errors every year. All these deaths are avoidable and over 500,000 patients a year are harmed or maimed.
NHS hospitals are covering up fatal blunders by doctors and giving patients and their relatives misleading information about these incidents. One in ten people admitted to hospital is victim of a medical error or hospital mistake. 20% to 25% of patients are initially misdiagnosed by their doctor.
Dirty hospital wards lead to the deaths of thousands of patients year after year. It is as important to protect ourselves against doctors and hospitals mistakes as it is to protect ourselves against cancer, heart disease and other serious illnesses.
Unnecessary deaths can be due to misdiagnosis, negligence, incompetence, being prescribed the wrong medication or treatment and receiving care and treatment in unhygienic hospitals.
We need to be made aware of the importance of knowing how to find the best medical care and treatment for ourselves and for our families.
There needs to be greater openness, honesty and transparency and when medical mistakes are made, patients at the receiving end of these mistakes and their relatives should be told. People need to become more focused and proactive and not leave their health totally in the hands of doctors.
Your health and the health of your family should be your number one priority: If it s not then do something about it right now.
