Amanda Sparrow Large Teague is Ireland’s only modern day pirate.
When she watched Pirates of the Caribbean for the first time in 2015, her life transformed. Overturning her lifestyle completely, not only did she become a pirate in her own right, but also an impersonator of Captain Jack Sparrow.
Garnering mass attention in the press and making TV appearances to thousands, she has since become one of the best known impersonators in the world. Disney recognised her in their book Pirates of the Caribbean – The Collector’s Anthology and dedicated a whole section to her close replication of Jack Sparrow.
But her self-discovery didn’t end there.
Amanda’s life-shifting moment was no coincidence, as she found that Jack Sparrow is not a fictional character at all, but the spirit of a pirate from the 1700s trying to connect with her.
